Welcome to another exciting year for the Smart/Maher VFW National Citizenship
Education Teacher Award. Each year the VFW selects elementary(K-5), middle (6-8) and
high school (9-12) teachers to participate in this program. Post and District Chairmen can
access the program guides and entry forms from the National VFW website www.vfw.org
or Department website www.vfwpahq.org. The Department entry deadlines will be posted
to Department website.
State Deadlines for 2026-2027 Smart/Maher Teacher Awards are:
1. October 31, 2026 – Entry form to Post
2. November 16, 2026 – Entry to District if applicable
3. December 15, 2026 – Post/District winners forward to
