REV. PETER R. HOOK

Rev. Peter R. Hook is a native of Myerstown, Pennsylvania, and also called Indiana and Texas home.

He served in the US Army, being drafted in 1966.  Upon completion of Officer Candidate School at Ft. Benning, Georgia, he received my commission and then served in Vietnam with the 1st Infantry Division.

His college education began after my military service.  After receiving a Bachelor of Science Degree from Lancaster Bible College, Lancaster, PA, he studied at Grace Theological Seminary in Winona Lake, Indiana.  From there he went on to earn a four-year Master of Theology Degree from Dallas Theological Seminary, Dallas, TX.  He later studied at Jerusalem University in Israel.

He served as a chaplain, church consultant, and intentional interim pastor of a number of churches.  In addition to his pastoral ministry, he was part of the faculty at Philadelphia Biblical University (now Cairn University) for 29 years and a National Instructor for Walk Thru the Bible Ministries.  He is a Gold Legacy Life Member of Myerstown Memorial Post 6076, a Life Member of the VFW National Home for Children, and a member of the Military Order of the Cootie.  Since 2010 he has been serving as State Chaplain of the Pennsylvania Department of Veterans of Foreign Wars and in 2014, he was elected Eastern Conference Chaplain.  Then, in July 2016, he was elected National Chaplain of the Veterans of Foreign Wars.

I have been married to my wife Carolyn for 52 years.  Carolyn taught English and writing at Cairn University, served as President of her Auxiliary for six years, and has served as Department of Pennsylvania Auxiliary State Musician since 2011.  We have one son, Stephen, who is married to Jaime, and they have three children.
